A list of things impactful to regularly occurring live sit online tournaments...
There are quite a few of us that run live online Backgammon tournaments. My local club runs 2-3 each week. Here are some issues that make it challenging for me.
Number One on the list is the Bracket Preview. As soon as I bulk add my list of players all the "You've been Challonged!" invites go out and link back to the bracket. The problem is the bracket is NOT live, but there is only a small line of text saying it is not live (which does NOT appear in the Embedded view), but so very often I get players trying to match up with their provisional matchup. IDEAS: Hide the bracket for non-admins until live, put some kind of watermark behind the bracket clarifying it isn't live, make the background red as an indicator not to act on the bracket yet. Something.
Since everyone playing has a Challonge account, they all self report. However, when the next matchup is defined, there is no email/discord notification unless someone clicks the "ready to play" button. IDEAS: Give us an option to auto-ready to play matches as they come up.
We use Stations to define Discord "Table" voice channels. Every tournament requires a fresh entry of Stations. IDEAS: Allow us to set a default set of Stations on tournament creation.
NICE TO HAVE: When the Station pop-up comes up, automatically select the Station Name field to save us a click with every entry. Right now we have to click to open it and then a click to select the title field.
Any of this would be really helpful!
