Allow Group Stage Rankings to seed the Next Stage Based on Overall Ranking/Stats
When running a Round Robin in the Group Stage, instead of moving a specific number of people from each pool, allow match statistics to ascertain an overall ranking of players to move to the next stage. These statistics could include Points For, Points Difference, and include points for Wins and negative points for losses (Example - 3 points for a win, -3 points for a loss). The ability to add other number criteria would be helpful. Like in our sport, a high number of double hits could be used for adding more negative points. All stat values are tallied into an overall score for a pool ranking.
Then a specific number of players based on ranking moves into the elimination stage(Example - Top 16 moves on in a 32 player tournament). This number should be customizable based on the needs of the tournament.
This would allow players with more points scored and less points scored against them to potentially not win a pool but still have the ability to move on. A player could place 2nd or 3rd in a pool but have more points scored for or less against than someone who has lower overall scores in another pool. This would also allow for more accurate seeding of the next stage.
