Create "Stations" where we can assign tournament matches to
This would make it very easy to manage what match is going on where. Otherwise, they have to be self managed or not managed at all, which is a mess. It would be nice to have a section called "Stations", I can enter in my stations, and then for each match, I can mark what station it is on.
Just released along with options for (1) automatically assigning open stations to matches and (2) requiring a station on a match before opening it.
A separate feature we’ll be following up with is a dedicated station view for TVs & projectors that includes a queue for upcoming matches.
Hope you enjoy!

Hi,
Please add Station updating to the API set of functionality, or, another misc property, to the Match object. We require the ability to manage our stations/tables/fields ourselves, and would simply like to assign a StationID/TableID/FieldID that does not necessarily come from Challonge, to a Match... being able to use the API to do so would resolve a lot of persisted data to "remember which table was assigned to which match", when we could simply set it in Challonge and retrieve it after? make Location assignable? something we can set on a match other than ScoresCSV and State only...
For us, the Station is volatile through the tournament: players only stay on a station for 1 match, and it is even sought after functionality from the tournament director that players do not play two consecutive matches on the same table...
We are also often required by the venue itself to release tables/stations/fields in a timely fashion, and quite often, in a certain specific order...
For these two reasons:
1 - only "randomly" assigning stations at the start, but not between rounds, and,
2 - not being able to "automatically release the stations based on a priority list" as they are no longer needed, or manually, based on player numbers...We need to build our own station management app/module that would lie on top of ChallongeAPI/Connect...

It's nice to see stations added to Challonge however there needs to be a third option that allows the user to pre-assign stations to all of the matches before the bracket begins. The way it is now I have to either manually assign stations after each round, which is tedious in a live setting, or I let it automatically assign stations which means it's likely that the best matches won't be on our stream/cap stations.

Any chance we can assign stations to brackets that don't have a match? So as the team's progress through the bracket they are assigned a specific stations and not have to be added live.

This is a big step in the right direction, Although the 3 char limit is a possible issue to some, You mention the dedicated view station, I'm VERY interested in seeing that. I have been using Challonge Display API somebody made a few years ago, I hope you get some inspiration from that as it does the job needed, clearly displays player names and station, next match, in a clear text method without the brackets (which I personally like), but it's a little "crashy" for my taste. As far as auto-board assignments, Perhaps a method of setting station order preference could be implemented? and what can and can't be auto-assigned.

This feature is fantastic. Is there a reason why there is a 3 character limit displaying the station name on the bracket? We name ours Black A, Black B, etc. Even going to the short name for color BK-A, BK-B, etc. is four characters.

Sorry to repeat this post. This is an important part of this feature to me...
Can we have the option to not allow icons or avatars in the bracket or station screens?
I use two large screens to display my brackets on site. The stations screen would be a welcome addition to have on display. However it would appear that screen will only display the logo of a team, rather than the name(s) of the participants. There is alot of space occupying the current layout. Will there be an option to have a players name displayed rather than just the logo of their team? So when displayed. it show John Smith vs Bill Brown, rather than just the logos?

Greetings. I like the new station feature, thank you. When do you anticipate automatic station assignment being released? I have a tournament on 6 October and running a simulation.

Is there anyway I can get into the beta test group I also have a large event that I am hosting on September 7th and I'm using an old API that somebody made like 3 4 years ago that works okay but occasionally crashes I would much rather do it all inside of a single interface it physically possible

@Ian thanks for your feedback! We internally had some feedback almost identical to yours, so we intend to address those issues.
Additionally, we have some major time-saving features on the way soon related to stations:
First, you'll be able to turn on automatic station assignment. On tournament start, stations will all get assigned, then as matches complete, the freed up stations will get assigned to the next matches in the queue.
Second, you'll be able to require station assignment on matches before they start. So even if both players are set for a match, we won't open it up for score reporting until a station is assigned. Once assigned, the match will open automatically and email notifications will go out.
Used together, these two features make managing stations and notifications immensely easier. We're using them in production tomorrow for https://cxm.challonge.com/events/ctm2018 and we'll publicly release them very soon.

I like that you guys finally added (well, at least a start) a "Stations" feature. The only problem with it is that it currently doesn't save a whole lot of time. It needs to tie in a little better with the bracket to be extremely useful...
Right now if you assign a match to a station on the Stations tab, the bracket does not highlight that match in blue to show that it is currently in progress. This would be very helpful as I have the bracket up on the TV for everybody to see. Currently I have to periodically (when I have time) go through and mark the matches in the bracket that I've already assigned to stations.
Second, if the station name could be displayed next to the in progress match on the bracket that would be super awesome!
Oh, and lastly (rather minor) but if the Station name could be shown on page where you are assigning a match, that would be helpful. Because right now I see an open station, click on it then I look around to see who I want to assign and by time I do that I sometimes forget what station I'm on.
Thanks for at least starting to incorporate stations in to Challonge!

They've added something by the name, I can't seem to get it working though. The text field is broken.

I see it's been 4 years and this seemingly small request has gotten no attention, who do I have to pay? My league is used to Challonge and changing would be "painful", but right now, tracking who is on what board (Dart Matches) is a paper method outside of the visible interface, which is inefficient. Please reconsider this request.

When are you guys going to add stations?

I agree if we can put in a Location and a date time of the match would make life very simple for tournaments an leagues that take place at different locations simultaneously

We use "Fields" and Times for each game would be helpful.

This (and no offline client) is the only reason we used TIO for a years instead of challonge. Please give us a station manager. This would make challonge a lot more useful for tournament organizing and we would have no more reason to use TIO instead.

This was created for melee tourneys but I'm sure it will help with this anyway

It would be good if you could put in that you have 5 boards for use in your tournament and have it auto assign matches to those boards. Allowing for the admin to change it if a particular game is running long. If the brackets assigned it people would not be able to complain that the person running the tournament is "always" putting me on the board by the door or restrooms, or whatever. You could also have a designated board for the championship match and have the program not assign that board, if possible, to the semifinal matches for the top of each bracket. Thanks for your wonderful program.

If the table names in the brackets could be set to simply recycle teh same numbers in each new round instead of incrementing the table/match name (e.g. AA, AB, AC, etc) new in each round it could solve this problem. Then you could just match your stations with the letters it generates.
