'Surprise contract' Samsung Life Insurance's Kim Dan-bi, 'Thank you once again for the team that trusted me.'
Samsung Life succeeded in renewing the contract with seasoned forward Kim Dan-bi (32, 175 cm, forward).
Yongin Samsung Life Insurance signed a two-year contract with Kim Dan-bi for a total annual salary of 120 million won (annual salary 110 million won and allowance 10 million won).
Kim Dan-bi made her professional debut in 2011 after graduating from Cheongju Girls' High School and Gwangju University. He is a college-educated professional athlete and is considered one of the few examples of a successful soft landing. Kang Yu-rim of Samsung Life Insurance, Lee Myung-kwan of Woori Bank, and Kim Ah-reum of Shinhan Bank are currently active college athletes.
Kim Dan-bi started at Woori Bank and played for Bucheon Hana One Q for three years in 2017, before moving to Samsung Life Insurance in 2020. He was granted significant playing time in the 2020-21 season and contributed significantly to winning the playoffs at the time.
With a career-high average of 8.1 points and 5.2 rebounds in 29 games in the 2020-21 season, which was his first season after moving, Kim Dan-bi continued his presence as the sixth man. Last season, he played in only 16 games due to injury, averaging only 3.5 points and 2.6 rebounds.
However, Samsung Life highly appreciated Kim Dan-bi's sincerity and once again trusted him and signed a contract.
In a telephone conversation with his newspaper, Kim said, "I didn't do well last year. Still, she said that the club trusted her. Thank you. She made the decision without much hesitation. I was relieved. "The conditions were not much different from what I thought," he said.
Kim continued, "I didn't really want it from other teams. I felt like my team suited me well. I didn't think much about the challenge. I thought I might be behind. I also thought it was time for a change. "I thought it might change if a coach changes, but I want to show something and finish before I retire," he added.
Also, Kim Dan-bi said, "I want to achieve a small goal that I can set, even if it's not a big role. I want to show you a good side of me and I want to retire. The word has always been close to me. There have been a lot of ups and downs, and I think it's the case every year."
She was positive about what her role would be. She wanted more details.
"After winning the championship, they disappeared the next season. I felt like I became a senior immediately. From then on, I moved on to the senior team. There are obvious shortcomings. I am not the type to take care of people (laughs).
