Offer "shifted" losers' brackets
The conventional bottom brackets you use for DE tourneys are slow and less fair than shifted brackets. For example, in a 16-team tourney, there are groups of 8, 4, 2, and 1 dropping into the losers' bracket. You drop the groups into the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 6th rounds, thus: 8 -> 4 + 4 -> 4 -> 2 + 2 -> 2 -> 1 + 1 -> 1. It's more efficient, and usually more fair, to drop them into the first four rounds of the losers': 8 -> 4 + 4 -> 4 + 2 -> 3 + 1 -> 2 -> 1. There's one less round, and so teams spend less time waiting for their next opponent. And no matter who wins the losers' bracket, they'll have the same 5-1 record, whereas with the conventional bracket they might be need 4 wins, or 6 wins, depending on how early they got their loss.
